Awards

We have recently been awarded the National Healthy Schools Award.

This assesses how we teach children about healthy lifestyles by looking at curricular and extra-curricular P.E., our teaching of nutrition, the provision of healthy food and children’s emotional and social wellbeing, including how we deal with the possibility of bullying.

We have a full time Inclusion Co-ordinator and full time Learning Mentor who are both here to look after your child’s particular educational and emotional needs.  If you need support as a parent, we also have a part-time Parent Support Advisor in school who is here to help you to access specific support.

The support we can offer ranges from specific intervention programmes for a child who is underachieving or who is gifted and talented, through to obtaining bereavement counselling for your child or support for parents who have a child with a specific difficulty such as diabetes, dyslexia, or ADHD.  We are in touch with a wide range of professionals who are able to help us to help you to enable your child to reach their potential.

We have also gained the National Basic Skills Quality Mark which assesses our quality of provision for Maths and English and the way in which we use ICT to promote these skills.  In order to gain the award we addressed the 10 elements of the Quality Mark which range from staff training and using a range of teaching styles through to available resources and the way we assess children’s work.
